ATLANTA (October 21, 2013) – Savannah Distributing Company, Inc., Georgia’s locally owned, premium beverage supplier based in Doraville, is pleased to announce the addition of a compressed natural gas (CNG) delivery truck to the company’s fleet, marking the first such use of a CNG truck in the State of Georgia.

The Ford F650 CNG truck saves up to 40% in fuel costs when compared to a similar-sized, diesel-powered delivery truck. Benefits of compressed natural gas extend well beyond fuel savings, as this alternatively fueled vehicle also minimizes the negative environmental impacts often associated with gasoline and diesel. Compressed natural gas is a clean-burning fuel that reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 25% and particulate matter emissions by 95%. As promoted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel, and in its natural state, natural gas is nontoxic to soil and water.

“The use of a CNG truck was a natural progression,” notes Henry Monsees, president of Savannah Distributing. “We’ve been examining new ways to deliver product to our clients in an environmentally friendly, cost conscious manner. With CNG vehicles, we can save approximately 40% in fuel costs while operating a vehicle that is better for the environment. It’s a win-win for Savannah, Three Taverns Brewery, our clients and the communities we serve.”

The CNG truck began service in late September is wrapped with branding to promote Three Taverns Craft Brewery. Located in Decatur, Three Taverns Craft Brewery brings traditional Belgian-style brewing craft to Atlanta – a unique addition to the city’s rapidly growing craft brew culture. Founded in 2013, the brewery offers a lineup of uniquely styled craft beers including Single Intent, a Belgian-style single ale, and A Night In Brussels IPA, a Belgian-style American I.P.A.

Savannah Distributing Company has already ordered another CNG delivery vehicle and plans to add several more to its fleet in the future, eventually switching to a lineup of vehicles powered exclusively by compressed natural gas. Savannah Distributing Company is located in close proximity to the largest public CNG station in the State of Georgia, owned and operated by American Fueling Systems (AFS). AFS is a leader in the alternative fuels industry as a designer, builder and operator of alternative fueling facilities throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
